Feasibility Study Report on CO2 Capture-Ready UMPPs, India Carried Out
  UK

Monday, May 5, 2008

Mott MacDonald, on behalf of the British Government (Foreign & Commonwealth Office), carried out an innovative feasibility study for making the India's Ultra Mega Power Projects (9 x 4,000 MW) "CO2 Capture-Ready".

The study included conceptual design, techno-financial modeling, investment appraisal, comparison of options and costs, potential storage routes assessment, evaluation of risks and sensitivities.

The study report named CO2 Capture-Ready UMPPs, India was completed in April 2008 and distributed to a wide range of stakeholders.

The study concluded that with regulation providing a sufficient incentive for CCS from 2020, it would be economically rational to prepare the UMPPs as capture-ready in India today.
