Construction for Guangdong Province’s First Carbon Capture Test Platform Starts in China Resources’ Haifeng Power Plant

Carbon capture is an international novel environmental protection technology to reduce carbon dioxide emission. In January 15th, the commencement ceremony for China Resources’ Haifeng power plant carbon capture test platform held in Haifeng, which marks the starts of construction for the first ultra clean emissions based ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant carbon capture test platform. It is know that this platform will be used to test a variety of carbon capture, utilization and storage technology to select suitable model application in China, especially in Guangdong province.

General manager for China Resources Power (Haifeng) co., LTD. Wang Feng said at the commencement ceremony that Haifeng project went into operation in 2015, it is the first million kilowatts power plant with ultra-low emissions in Guangdong province, as well as the first green power demonstration base integrated with wind, light and fire. He said that Haifeng project’s carbon capture test platform will be completed with high standard, high quality to contribute to the carbon emission reduction efforts in China and worldwide.

After the completion, the project with 100 million RBM investment will become the 3rd medium sized carbon capture technology test center, paralleling with the United States carbon capture technology test center and Norway Mongstad technique center. The project had been classified as the carbon capture technology demonstration project in Guangdong province by the Guangdong development and reform commission. (LinksChina)
